  • Contact the Salvation Army who can help you with your search. You can complete an online search request at www.salvationarmy.org.uk 
  • or call 0845 634 4747 for advice (There is a charge of £45 and you will need their full name, date of birth and their last known address before you start.)
  • Apply to the General Register Office to get hold of any birth, death or marriage certificates you need during your search.

  • You may even be able to track down estranged family members through name and area searches on social networking sites like facebook and my space.
  • Alternatively if your relative was an Army, Navy or Airforce veteran, you may wish to write to the archives department at the Ministry of Defence but expect delays in replies as they are usually inundated with general enquires.
